Very good suction. Powerhead failure because of poor quality hose. The wires break requiring a complete hose replacement.

I’m a fan of the DC35 Multi floor myself. It’s great for those living in an apartment and for getting to those hard-to-reach places. If you can swing it and live in a house, I’d get the DC28 and DC35. Use the DC28 for most of the floors and the DC35 for stairs and those hard-to-reach places.

The dyson 28 animal really helps in a house with both a dog and a cat. I think of all the models I’ve reviewed, this one is my favorite, even if it doesn’t have the “ball”. I do wish it was easier to clean out the roller, as long pet hair does tend to get wrapped up quickly and thickly in there.

I believe that’s for either the suction release or tool attachments. I’m trying to figure out where exactly on the cleaner you’re talking about.

Having done my homework pretty thoroughly and found that the Miele S516 is the best dog and cat hair vacuum for mostly hard-surface floors, I discover that it has been discontinued! Two different local Miele dealers said I wanted a canister –NOT an upright — and showed me that this model had shorter brush hairs that would not constantly clog with pet hair.

Let’s pressure Miele to bring back a decent pet hair CANISTER vacuum!

This vacuum is not too loud and the replacement parts are easily available.

I’ve been testing out and reviewing the latest models from Dyson. I think I prefer the DC28 and DC25 animal models over the DC23 canister one. I just expected the canister to hold more than an upright, but it doesn’t, which means I ended up spending more time emptying it than I did with the upright.

I love this vacuum and I’m surprised at the negative comments. Mine is about 4 years old and still works great. It picks up everything including fine dust. I’m always amazed to see what ends up in the bin. Because it works so well the filters have to be cleaned often – every two or three times I use it. But it’s easy to do. We have two sets of filters. Wash out one set, put the other in. The upper filter gets clogged more often now that we have three cats. The hair wraps around the cylinder… because it sucked the hair off the furniture and floor… which is why I vacuumed. Perfect!
